Winter 2008-2009

Over the years Elzemeyer Polled Herefords has worked hard to improve our herd.  We have tried to select quality sires to constantly make better cows.  With the introduction of the Feltons Domino 774 bull to our program in 2002 we believe we have made great strides to improve our EPDs in all areas.  Our goal since we began breeding cows was to make great females.  Over the last several years we have added kept several groups of exceptional heifers.  In the Spring of 2009 we have 10 new heifers which have been bred to produce calves in the top of the breed.

Also we begin to plan the breeding season and begin to review the sire summary to seek out the kind of bulls that will produce the type of calves we strive to have.  We continue to look to produce cattle that are first and foremost great mothers.  In addition we are looking to produce cattle with an eye toward production -- they will produce calves that go from our farm to the table economically and with high quality beef.  If you review our EPD's you will see the type of cattle we are producing.
